Located 43 kilometers from Ulaanbaatar on the south side of the Bogd Khaan Uul Strictly Protected Area, the monastery was destroyed during the communist purges of the 1930’s. Set in a beautiful location, reconstruction of some of its buildings is taking place and where one can visit its museum, see many of its Buddhist artifacts and walk in the surrounding forested valley.
This trip covers: protected mountain, national park, statue complex, temple ruin and plenty of land for horseback riding Visit the very first protected Mountain for a hike and visit the ruins of Manzushir temple, once hosted over thousand monks before the communist genocide that killed more than 18,000 monks. The tour continues to the beautiful Terelj national park and Chinggis Khan statue complex. The tour ends with arrival back to Mandala resort.
